Peter Rabbit - The Complete Collection of The World of Peter Rabbit - The Complete Collection of

Beatrix Potter was born in London in 1866. During her rather lonely childhood and later, as a young woman, she studied art and natural history. She acquired her love and knowledge of the countryside during family holidays, at first in Scotland and then in the Lake District. She started her career as children's author and illustrator in 1901 when she was thirty-five. In the years before the First World War, demand for her work was so great that she was publishing an average of two new stories a year. As she became financially independent, she was able to buy some land in the Lake District and in 1913, on her marriage to solicitor William Heelis, she moved to live there permanently. For the last thirty years of her life, writing and illustrating gave place to a second career as a sheep farmer and countryside conservationist. Beatrix Potter is one of the world's best-loved children's authors of all time. From her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) she went on to create a series of stories based around animal characters including Mrs Tiggy-winkle, Mr Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten. Her humorous, lively tales and beautiful illustrations have become a natural part of childhood. The 2016 coins are the rarest out there, but there have since been additional releases in 2017 and 2018, with coins featuring Flopsy Bunny, Mrs Tittlemouse, The Tailor of Gloucester and a new Peter Rabbit design.

While they will not be entering circulation, each coin is bound to be very popular when they go on sale, following the success of its predecessors. This coin was released to celebrate Beatrix Potter’s life, and the coin features the dates 1866 to 1943, with Peter Rabbit at the centre. The limited edition coins showed characters from the author’s iconic children’s story, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, with Peter Rabbit the most popular (and most valuable) coins in the series. Beatrice Potter's books contain compelling simple stories that any young child would find understandable. There are straight forward values and genuine relationships which would teach then the ways of life. The ancient enemy calls nightmarish creatures to its banner as it spreads across Midkemia, growing in power. The Kingdoms defences are small in comparison to the army of darkness, and the outlook for survival is bleak.
