At first, the ending seemed a bit anticlimactic, but upon reflection, I felt like the whole adventurous lead-up was all part of the ending and it worked. And it's good to see a lovely rendition of Pissedoffer Lee looking suitably angry that he's had to don the robes and teeth again. Eu já comecei com um mês e um pouquinho depois do início, mas consegui acompanhar e foi maravilhoso. My only complaint — and I’m hesitant to bring this up, for it is bad form to talk about pre-release galleys that have no bearing on the published version — is that my electronic pre-release copy was full of missing letters and numbers in some sections of the text.

Thus, there are parallels between the century that separates the book’s original publication and now that can be drawn. First published in 1897, Bram Stoker's Dracula established the ground rules for virtually all vampire fiction written in its wake. Just sorting through covers that might be appropriate for this, strikes me that as a rule it's the ones that steer well clear of the over-familiar Lugosi, C. My belief is, that by telling these tales about vampires in Wilno, the Polish residents hoped to scare away American immigrants who were settling on the land. Will he survive the deadly traps and cunning pitfalls laid by the centuries-old adversary, or will the bloodthirsty aristocrat claim another unfortunate victim?

However, Dracula — a novel told as a series of letters, journal entries, and newspaper articles — is one of those books where 16 different people could read it and come away with 16 different things to say about it.

The popularity of my post on the War of the Worlds Book Cover Collection and the fun I had looking over all of those images made me want to do a similar thing here with my favorite Count. The novel's themes of fear, desire, and the battle between good and evil are explored in a way that continues to resonate with readers today. I didn't mind the first couple of Enrod's to be honest, though, as a vampire series, they've a long way to go before they're Mr. It is a new novel from comic publisher Dark Horse, their prose "continuation" of the Universal monstermovies.

The Hienemann Guided Readers Edition (1982) is like a bluffer's guide, Stoker rewritten by Margaret Tarner and condensed into 48 pages of large-ish print, illustrated rather sweetly by Kay Mary Wilson. Even after all these years, it remains a gripping and chilling tale that will haunt your thoughts long after you've closed the book. This should be more than enough to distinguish it from the original, never mind altering the main title page as well. I liked all the characters, and even though I knew when and where tragedy would strike, the emotional impact was no less on this reread.Maybe it's because they're still something of a novelty to me, but i love the German editions you post.
