About this deal

MPAA and earned an "R" rating with this level of nastiness intact; the end scene in particular is quite difficult to stomach. Seeing as how the franchise is one that continuously and consciously breaks its own rules, which is part of the humor and enjoyment, Alvarez keeps to the tradition by also going against genre standards while also adhering to them. At startup, viewers are taken to a static menu screen with the usual options and music playing in the background. Evil Dead managed to rake in a tidy profit for Sony Pictures, with the trailers and the word-of-mouth on the film showcasing it as one of the hardest R-rated mainstream horror efforts in quite some time, relying almost exclusively on practical make-up and special effects. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.

From Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Alvarez, making his big-screen American debut, the film comes with a clever plot that feels fresh and new, but doesn't shy away from being seen as a reimagining/reboot/continuation of the beloved original while also drenching the whole affair with buckets of gory, blood-spattered gruesomeness. In conclusion, "Evil Dead (2013) - Collector's Edition [4K UHD] [Blu-ray]" is a spine-chilling masterpiece that revitalizes the horror genre. The new 4K image does add some HDR and with a movie this dark, it does “show” for lack of a better term. There was some confusion over the description - it was a box set of 8 x 7" singles, but the description also said "No of disks: 1". Granted, a twisted and perverse sense of humor would be the required precondition for enjoying this brutally bloody version as an animated carnival ride, but in this day and age, when remakes are a never-ending trend and quickly dismissed for being such, it's a genuine treat to have at least one memorable standout worthy of the original.

blockbuster improvements, but the smaller improvements do add up to a fairly impressive overall texture gain for the film. Colors appear subdued and restrained, adding to the story's gloomy atmosphere, but primaries remain accurate and cleanly rendered, especially the deep, rich reds of blood. Directed by Fede Alvarez, who was discovered after he released a short on the internet, there’s certainly some homage to the original. He graduated from Regis College in 2019 with a Bachelor's in Communication and minored in both Film Studies and Writing. Equal parts remake, reboot, and sequel, this terrifying entry in the cult film franchise follows a group of friends to a secluded wooded cabin.

After a couple skippable trailers, viewers are taken to a main menu screen with full-motion clips and music playing in the background. Some of the scenes lit by lanterns have an almost unnatural glow to them, but this appears to be the intent of the filmmakers and not a flaw of the presentation itself. Courtesy of Scream Factory, evil rips the soul out of Ultra HD with a satisfying 4K Dolby Vision video and features the same reference-quality lossless track and supplements as the previous Blu-ray release. It has its own identity, offering nods to the past for those paying attention, but without ever sacrificing itself to do so. The 4K enhancement elevates the horror, immersing viewers in every gory detail and bone-chilling moment.

Directing the Dead (HD, 7 min) — Alvarez talks extensively about his approach and creative process to a beloved franchise, working the cast and placing more emphasis on traditional, practical special effects over digital. Making Life Difficult (HD, 8 min) — Similar to the above with added comments from director Fede Alvares, looking at the exhaustive process of filming and the physical toll on Levy. soundtrack included on this UHD edition appears to be identical to its Blu-ray predecessor, and while an object-based audio option would have been a welcomed upgrade, the track remains a highly-entertaining, reference-quality mix that will have neighbors screaming bloody murder.

All disc reviews at High-Def Digest are completed using the best consumer HD home theater products currently on the market. At the moment he is currently working on his first screenplay tentatively titled "The Alien Murders" which he has describes as Halloween III meets The Faculty. The sadistic and depraved horror remake also finds its way to Blu-ray with a highly-entertaining, reference-quality DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack that will even your neighbors screaming bloody murder. It’s hard not to laugh when someone cuts off their own “possessed” hand with an electric knife or maybe I’ve seen one too many horror films.Still, we’ve got a new generation of actors trying their darnedest to make a career and they’ve been dealt a winning hand with this film. Scream Factory presents the film on Ultra HD for the first time in both its theatrical and unrated versions from a “new 4K restoration by Sony,” graded for high dynamic range (HDR10 and Dolby Vision options are available, though the latter is only included on the unrated version). Watching films like Halloween, Scream, and Friday the 13th for the first time, he never looked back.
